Cactus Propagation - 1 Nov 2006

In January 2005, Khun Premsak got this odd looking cactus, about 8 feet tall.  Although it trunk grows slowly, it sprout many leafs. So in Oct 2005, we cut several leafs to see if they can be propagated.  I took some leafs and Khun Premsak took some.

As you can see below, after over a year, mine hardly grew showing only small growth in the leaf forms.  Khun Premsak's, however, grown up into a miniature version of its parent complete with a fully formed trunk and leafs. He said that he now know "the trick" to growing them.

This weekend we will cut some more leafs and let him plant this odd looking cactus.

We still have not bee able to identify the specie name of this cactus.  Anyone have any idea, please e-mail me at vasant@loxley.co.th
