First ever Giant Arapaima Babies were born in Thailand
discovered 25 Oct. 1999
This is the first time that the gigantic Arapaima (Other Name : Pirarucu, Sci Name:Arapaima gigas Family:Osteoglossidae, Origin: Amazon basin) ever know to have spawn in Thailand. As a matter of fact, it has been reported that it has only spawned in captivity in Germany and Peru.
So far, we have found 4 groups. We have caught less than half of one group and it already totalled over 360 babies !!! I guess that there are several thousands babies in the lake and we will have to move most of them to other ponds within the Farm or else there will not be enough food in the Lake to support this large population explosion.
Anyone want some for your aquariums, please let me know.
